Keta Senior High School failed in their attempt to make it to the finals of The Sharks all round high school competition, losing against a dazzling Presec side in a pulsating semifinal contest.
Both schools had been impressive in the lead up to the semifinals. While Ketasco overpowered Accra Academy and trampled Sonrise Christian High; Presec- Legon defeated Saint Augustine’s college and trodden defending champions Opoku Ware School to make it to the semifinals. Many predicted a hard fought contest which indeed lived up to the billing.
Wonder gave Ketasco a 10 points lead from the Right Corner Round (Social Literacy).
The Dzolali side maintained the slim lead in the R cubed round (Reading, Writing, and Arithmetic) but the Blue Magicians anchored by Cyril took over from the STEM round and cemented their victory in the one-on-one match up round. At the end of the contest, Presec won by 145 to 90 points. Presec – Legon will go on to meet Mawuli School in an Accra- Ho final matchup of The Sharks all-round competition.
At the junior level, DPS International edged Manna International School in an exciting semifinal contest. Fans expected a keen contest between the two impressive sides judging from their performances in the quarterfinal round.
DPS International leveraged on their high proficiency in the STEM round to defeat Manna International who had led in the previous two rounds. DPS International will meet Ghana Christian International High at the finals in a repeat of last season’s final.
The final episode of The Sharks quiz airs this Saturday. The contest will show on TV3 (DSTV 279) Saturday from 2.30pm and will stream live on The Sharks facebook page.
The Sharks all-round competition focuses on core competencies – Literacy, Numeracy, STEM and Social Literacy and is endorsed by the Ministry of Education, supported by Family Health Medical School, Academic City College, Ashesi University, Webster University, Indomie, B5 Plus, Frytol, Fortune Rice, Louisianna State University, University of St. Thomas, Givers Care, Coco Pops and Mcberry biscuits.
