Dreams College of Creative Arts (DCCA) hosted its Graduation Fashion Gala 2024 at Annietta’s Garden-Abelenkpe in Accra, showcasing a blend of inspiration, talent and dedication.
The event, spanning three days, featured a Mystical Breakfast Show, Convocation, and a Talent Fashion Showcase.
On Thursday, 31st October, the Mystical Breakfast Show brought together guest speakers Mrs. Faith Senam, fashion PR specialist, Mr. Bernnett, creative director of Bello Couture Ghana, and Ms. Halima Sanusi, creative director of Sadia Sanusi who shared insights on “Life After School (Untold Truth).” They encouraged graduates to focus on personal investment, find their niche, embrace mistakes, and continuously learn. “Don’t be in a hurry to start,” Senam advised, highlighting the importance of building networks and confidence in a competitive industry. Bennett emphasized brand building and hands-on experience, while Sanusi spoke of her journey from homegrown fashion to professional success, urging graduates to stay authentic.
The main Convocation and Fashion Show followed on Saturday, November 2nd. At 1 PM, Class Day Speaker Stephanie Mudikongo delivered a memorable address, emphasizing that fashion is not just about style but confidence and a people-focused approach. She urged graduates to embrace the digital world, show up for themselves, and nurture a growth mindset.
This year’s graduating class comprised three programs with a total of twenty-five (25) graduands; Diploma in Fashion Design Technology, with Kugblenu Princess Yayra Benedicta emerging as the best student; Womenswear Design Technology, having Ellen Asamoah Boateng top as best student; and Victoria Ankrah taking the best student for Victoria’s Sewing School. Kugblenu Benedicta as a student speaker, reflected on the collective journey of perseverance and camaraderie that defined their experience at DCCA, thanking educators, families, and peers for their unwavering support.
DCCA’s Honcho, Mrs. Susana Mantey, applauded the graduating class and highlighted the College’s commitment to community development, including a training initiative for young women in Winneba. Mrs. Mantey announced upcoming scholarship opportunities and a new professional program, Aap-Tay-Karen, set to launch in 2025, further solidifying DCCA’s position as a leader in creative education.
The Fashion Showcase at 6 PM culminated the celebration, with Kugblenu Princess Yayra Benedicta again awarded the “Best Collection.” Haja Jabbie, Tara Annie Kuoh, and Ayi Wilhelmina Sackiley were the runner-ups. The event honored the hard work and creativity of these emerging designers, setting the stage for their promising careers.
DCCA’s Graduation Fashion Gala 2024 exemplified the school’s dedication to nurturing creative talent and preparing graduates for success in the fashion industry.
