The first-year student of St. Louis Senior High School, who studies General Arts, made the statement after an impressive performance at the just-ended Super Zonals athletics competition, where she won both the 100-metre and 200-metre races.
Speaking in an interview with Akoma FM, Gaza revealed that her journey into athletics started at a very young age and was inspired by her elder sister.
“I was inspired by my elder sister to become an athlete, so I started from primary school and I’m still competing now. My performance is not a fluke; it is the result of hard work, determination and support from God,” she said.
Gaza also addressed the growing rivalry between herself and fellow sprinter Fulera Sulemana. According to her, a strong start in races always gives her the edge over her competitors.
“I only need a good start, and when I get it, nobody can come close to me. I will finish the race very quickly,” she stated confidently.Remove ads
