Kente is a type of silk and cotton fabric made of interwoven cloth strips. Almost every Ghanaian tribe wears this fabric. Kente comes from the word ‘kenten’, which means basket in the Asante dialect of Akan. It is an Akan royal and sacred cloth worn only in times of extreme importance and was the cloth of kings.[Over time, the use of kente became more widespread. However, its importance has remained and southern Ghanaians hold it in high esteem. Globally, it is used in the design of academic stole in graduation ceremonies.

The National Chief Imam through the Chairman of the National Chief Imam Advisory Board, Mammmah Gado Mohammed said, “for the purpose of effective monitoring and enforcement of the new protocols, Covid-19 taskforces/committees should urgently be put in place at all the levels of the masjid (mosque) administrations ie. Regional, district, community, neighbourhood, and institutional masjid (mosques).”

A seven-member panel of the Supreme Court, presided over by the Chief Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah, gave the order Thursday, June 4, during hearing of a suit by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) challenging the upcoming compilation of new voters register by the EC.
