While winning a Grammy is one of the greatest things artists around the world hope for, Internationally recognised singer, Wiyaala has stated that her greatest award lies in her hometown of Funsi.
“Some people will try to make you feel until you win a Grammy…so…so…so this and that. Grammy is a music industry thing for music industry people. Let them enjoy. My greatest award is in Funsi,” she captioned a photo of her standing by her street name in Funsi.
This revelation comes as no surprise. The 34-year-old singer is passionate about her hometown. She has braved the odds relocating from Accra, the national capital to live in the village where she grew up.
With a street named after her, Wiyaala is also building a cultural theatre and training the village’s next generation to sing and dance.
In a recent interview with JoyNews’ Justice Baidoo, the award-winning artiste said coming back home and using her talent to help her natives makes her the happiest person on earth.
