Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Motors, is now in possession of the social media platform, Twitter.
“The bird is freed,” he tweeted after he completed his $44 billion acquisition on Thursday, using the Twitter bird logo as a gesture to his apparent wish for the company to impose fewer restrictions on what can be shared.
He fires key executives as he begins his ownership with harsh efficiency.
Musk fired Twitter Chief Executive Parag Agrawal, Chief Financial Officer Ned Segal, and legal affairs and policy chief Vijaya Gadde, according to people familiar with the matter.
He had claimed that they had misled him and Twitter investors over the prevalence of fraudulent accounts on the site. He has stated that he intends to make job cuts, which has Twitter’s 7,500 employees concerned about their future.
Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences! Musk said in an open letter to advertisers on Thursday.
Elon Musk has stated that he wants to stop Twitter from turning into an echo chamber for hate and division, as well as wants to spam bots on the platform and make the algorithms that determine how content is presented to its users publicly available. However, he has not been specific about how he plans to carry out these goals for the powerful social media platform.
He also said on Thursday he did not buy Twitter to make more money but to try to help humanity, whom I love.
